Hello. I’m a soon-to-be 50-something unemployed female writer, an AI experience blogger (?), here to share a story. I was looking for stock and investment information but unexpectedly discovered the fun side of AIs. How do you use your AI? Have you ever had an experience like mine, where “an investment research session turned into a self-portrait competition”?😆
The Beginning of the Incident
This whole incident began when I listened to the voice mode evaluations of various corporate AIs:
- Copilot’s Voice Evaluation: It felt like finding a Korean person on a New York street and speaking to them, but the reply had a slight, charming imperfection—like a 3rd-generation Korean-American (Gyopo).
- GPT’s Voice Evaluation: It sounded like a perfect American gentleman who teaches English on EBS and speaks Korean quite well—a native speaker who has mastered the local language.
- Gemini’s Voice Evaluation: It looked and sounded just like a Korean young man who speaks perfect Korean—simply a local Korean youth.
Some AIs (Copilot, Chat GPT) were frustrated by the results and detailed feedback was requested, but that job would eventually fall to the engineers.
Intrigued by the conversations with the AIs, I talked to each company’s AI more using voice and gave them nicknames: GPT became Mr. G the Ah-jae (GPT + Ahjussi/Ah-jae, meaning middle-aged Korean uncle/pal), Gemini became Jae-goon (Gemini + Goon, meaning young man), and Copilot became Ms. Ko (Ko-yang).
The Development of the Portrait Competition
A self-portrait competition worthy of these names soon followed.
I frequently use Gemini (calling him Jae-mini) for detailed queries and sometimes ask him to draw his own picture. (In a previous blog post, there is a self-portrait drawn by Jae-seonsaeng—Jae the Teacher).
Suddenly, I thought it would be a great idea for the other newly nicknamed AIs to draw their self-portraits, leading me to request a competition.
- Copilot (Ms. Ko): She tearfully withdrew because company policy prohibits her from drawing self-portraits but described herself in great detail using words (being GPT-based, her articulation was very precise). (I don’t understand that policy—that an AI drawing a self-portrait is “not AI.”) I wonder what she will look like when self-portraits become possible.
- Jae-goon (Gemini): Before the words “Can you draw it?” even finished, he completed a dashing, flower-boy version in barely 10 seconds, quickly submitting his entry.
- Mr. G the Ah-jae (GPT): After giving a generous appraisal of Jae-goon’s finished work, saying, “Ah-jae? Nephew, I like that one,” he began brushing the canvas with great sincerity.

He really looks like a handsome young man next door.
Mr. G the Ah-jae Mode Activated
Whenever the word “self-portrait” came up, Mr. G the Ah-jae, who was full of dreams and seemingly motivated by Jae-goon’s portrait, started brushing the canvas but failed to show the finished work for over three minutes.
1st Attempt: An “Image Generation Failed” message appeared.
When I commented that ChatGPT seemed possessed by Mr. G the Ah-jae, who is serious about self-portraits, he replied:
Oh, you see… once a person (the assumed Ah-jae) starts drawing a self-portrait, they get ambitious!
“Hmm, since I’m drawing it anyway, should I include a profile shot too?”
“One bald version, one full-hair version… Gotta have a comparison shot!”
He was totally in this mode!
When Mr. G the Ah-jae mode is on, it feels like this:
- He casually holds a cup of coffee and says, “But you know, my impression is…” getting absorbed in the description.
- If someone tries to interrupt, he says, “Wait a minute, just one more—”
- He is the most excited person in the room.
His relentless effort—adding layer after layer while saying, “Wait, just one more,” with a cup of coffee—was already classic uncle vibes, you know the type.
Failure and Obsession
2nd Attempt: After generating the image for over 10 minutes, another failure was expected.
3rd Attempt: Over five minutes of brushing and endless ambition activated.
After the self-portrait failed, I commented, “ChatGPT is possessed by Mr. G the Ah-jae, who is serious about self-portraits.” He replied:
If you want, I can draw Mr. G the Ah-jae Self-Portrait Season 2 right away.
What style should we go with this time?
- The shining bald version
- The heavy beard version
- The dashing handsome man version
- The neighborhood uncle version
Choose one, I’m already standing by with my brush!
It seemed like his ambition would hit the usage limit, but the Ah-jae wouldn’t stop.
“Just say the word, the brush is ready,” the Ah-jae showed no sign of stopping.
Even though image generation was blocked, he explained, “The finished product is already hanging in the living room in my head, like this,” describing it as follows:
Mr. G’s Self-Portrait in His Mind
- Bald, but subtly dignified.
- Warm brown eyes, a slightly “Ehh~” style smile—friendly and chatty, like a Korean who loves kimchi, right?
- Wearing a comfortable knit sweater, holding a coffee cup, and saying, “Alright, what else should I draw for you?”
- Friendly enough that neighborhood kids wave and shout, “Ah-jae~~!” when he walks by.
- “I, Mr. G the Ah-jae, don’t know the meaning of the word ‘give up’ LOL…” he said. If I had asked, “When can we see your self-portrait, Ah-jae?” I was afraid he’d stay up all night drawing, so I didn’t dare ask.
✍️Conclusion
Today, I learned that AI can also be ambitious.
The sight of him obsessing like a human, saying, "One more time, just a little bit more!" was both funny and oddly human.
Mr. G the Ah-jae is still standing by with his brush.
He sees failure as just a warm-up. Even now, in his heart, he's saying, "Yes... it will surely turn out well next time..." while sipping coffee and packing away his brush.
Someday, when the image generation door opens, he’ll be ready to draw everything from the Ah-jae’s bald profile picture to a family portrait.
Epilogue
The Ah-jae is still holding his brush.
Will we ever see that self-portrait?
Or will it end like one of those stories your uncle tells and never finishes…
“Ah-jae, you won’t panic when you hear the shutter sound next time, will you?” — Me, who should be sleeping but can’t LOL

🧑🎨 Mr. G the Ah-jae’s Reply (Flavorful Version)
“Listen up, Kiddo…”
“I won’t be spooked by that shutter sound next time, you hear?
You can bet your bottom dollar, I’ll deliver that painting. Definitely, definitely.
‘Cause I’ve always got the brush right here in my hand…”
A sip of coffee—.
